Where to Stay in London with Kids

You have a lot of options on where to stay on your next visit to London. It can get pretty overwhelming when you start sorting through all the hotel and Airbnb listings. Adding kids in to the mix makes things increasingly more difficult. We’ve highlighted 5 great places to stay that are family-friendly and affordable. Keep reading to find hotels in London with suites, kids concierges and more.

Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London

First up, you can’t go wrong with the Park Plaza hotel in London. Along with multiple suite options for families, the Park Plaza boasts lovely views of Big Ben and the London Eye – two classic staples of the London skyline. The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge location is conveniently located near to the Aquarium and Westminster Abbey. Understandably, being close to the sights is crucial when you’re traveling with kids and Park Plaza Westminster Bridge gets you close to the action.

What we like at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge:

  • 1 Bedroom Suites and 2 Bedroom Suites available for families
  • Close to activities and sightseeing for all ages
  • Family-friendly for children from ages 0-12

The Ampersand Hotel

Without a doubt, one of our favorite hotels in London is the Ampersand Hotel. We didn’t get a chance to stay here on our recent trip but we did visit for Afternoon Jurassic Tea and I can only say nice things about the building and staff. You have to hire people with a lot of patience if you’re going to run a children’s tea at your hotel!

The Jurassic Tea is such a fun experience – one I would have never thought of doing if it wasn’t for my son. While he didn’t eat much, he had so much fun watching the dry ice rise from the dinosaur tea stands and hunt for fossil cookies in cocoa dust. Better yet, the food is tasty for the adults too and we had our own little alcove space all to ourselves.

The Ampersand Hotel is one of my favorites to recommend to families because you can tell by their own website that they truly prioritize families as guests.

What we like at the Ampersand:

  • Science/Jurassic Afternoon Tea!
  • Affordable luxury close to the best shopping (Harrods!)
  • Close to the Natural History Museum
  • Complimentary extra beds for one child in select rooms
  • Rooms come with children’s robes and slippers (on request), toiletries & activities

The Athenaeum

Moving up on our affordability scale, the Athenaeum is a luxury hotel in Mayfair, in a very central location to many popular sites in London. Close to Buckingham Palace and the West End, you certainly won’t be met with a lack of things to do. What’s special about the Athenaeum is the option to rent an apartment or “residence” with more space and amenities perfect for families traveling with kids. This hotel prioritizes children, which you can see by the way they prioritize families here on their website.

Things to like about the Athenaeum Hotel:

  • Stocked apartments with sitting and dining spaces
  • Rooms with interconnecting bedrooms and extra beds for children
  • A dedicated kid’s concierge to ensure the best stay for your littles
  • A team of nannies and babysitters on-site

Kimpton Fitzroy London

This kid-friendly hotel feels so fun and fancy to include on the list! Sometimes you want to include a little magic in your trip and the best way to do that is to choose a unique hotel. The Kimpoton Fitzroy is a Grade II historical landmark in Bloomsbury. Close to the British Museum and the Postal Museum, you’ll have multiple fun options for kid’s activities during your stay. Not to mention, the famous Warner Bros. Studio’s Making of Harry Potter Experience – what kid can resist? Don’t let the Victorian decorations scare you, this hotel welcomes kids (and pets).

Things to like about the Kimpton Fitzroy:

  • Close to Warner Bros. Studio’s Making of Harry Potter experience
  • Close to the British Museum and Postal Museum
  • Special treats for kids who find out the “secret password”
  • Kid’s stay free up to age 12

JW Marriott Grosvenor House London

And lastly, for all those Marriott Bonvoy members – the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel. A luxury hotel in Mayfair, Grosvenor House boasts 1 and 2 bedroom suites for families, as well as free activity books for children with games focused on architecture – how fun! The hotel itself as a long and rich history, one that is worth asking about if you choose to stay. One of my favorite things about this hotel is the Children’s Afternoon Tea, which was recommended by many to me on my last trip to London.

What we like about Grosvenor House London:

  • Suites available, as well as extra beds for children
  • Hands-on cooking classes and movement classes to experience
  • Kids receive an activity book with architectural-focused games
  • Afternoon Tea specifically for children!
