I’m still working my way through what I am calling my “England Series” – a collection of lists and stories and recommendations based on my recent travels across England. Below I will share some of the best hotels and resorts I’ve found in England designed to engage and excite your little ones during your travel.

Whether you’re traveling from afar or taking a staycation in your backyard, these kid-friendly hotels have something for everyone. Keep on reading to discover some of the most-fun family friendly spots in England!

Unique and Luxury Family-Friendly Stays in England

All of the hotels listed below are what we consider unique or luxury stays in England. You won’t find Holiday Inn or the Hilton below. If you’re going to explore the country, we believe you have to do it the right way by experiencing the grandeur and history many of the following hotels espouse. However, we’ll also note that the hotels we share with you are meant to be ones that you can hopefully afford – so while yes, you’ll see lots of luxury below, most should fall into a reasonable price range!

There’s a lot to like about Lime Wood hotel – from the spa to the dining, there’s something for everyone. With an onsite babysitter, adults will find opportunities to enjoy a meal or a spa service with no worries. Lime Wood features specific rooms that are family friendly, such as the cabins and Forest cottages. Beyond the babysitter and family-friendly rooms, this hotel is actually a great fit for older kids looking to enjoy the outdoors and swimming pool.

The Great House at Sonning, Berkshire

A former Elizabethan coaching inn on a quiet stretch of the Thames, The Great House is a fun-filled hotel for adults and kids alike! This cozy hotel ticks our boxes for luxury and a unique experience. One of the best parts about the Great House would be the rooms – The Clock Tower Suite, Family Room and Apartments are all spacious choices for adults with kids (ages 2-12). What other hotel has bean bags for kids?! Besides the family-friendly rooms, enjoy wildlife walks, paddle boarding, wine tasting and a boat ride!

This sweet manor of a hotel is just too adorable for us! It’s immediate upon looking up the New Park Manor that children are a huge focus and priority. Touting itself as kid and pet friendly, New Park Manor offers both outdoor and indoor activities for families of all shapes and sizes. Kids are never bored and parents event get 90 minutes of childcare a day to relax – where can you go wrong?

Little ones and adults alike receive the five start treatment at Rubens in London. Beyond the typical family amenities, you’ll find pastry chef classes and complimentary mocktails for kids here at Rubens at the Palace, creating a wonderful little vacation in itself the next time you’re in the city. What I appreciate about Rubens is the amount of detail they include online about their children’s services – making it very clear that children and families are a very big priority to them.

The lovely manor house edifice struck me immediately, followed by the kid-friendly activities and messages surrounding the hotel. With onsite childcare and lots of varying activities, the Woolley Grange is a special hotel. Check out their family services here.

The Swan Hotel and Spa, Cumbria

Many of the hotels on our list can be found around London or on the south end of the country but we can’t ignore the beautiful Lake District. This lovely area of the country offers a lot of fun activities for families and it’s crucial to find somewhere fit for families. The Swan Hotel in Cumbria gives you quintessential Lake District vibes, as well as we’ll-entertain-your-squirmy-toddler energy. The hotel’s cottages ensure you have ample space and each season brings new season-specific deals.
