Hi – I’m Jen.
I’ve always been interested in money.
Growing up, we lived frugally. My parents taught my sister and I the value of money at a young age – both of them, first generation college graduates who decided to chart a new direction for their children.
We learned about hard work, and the value of what we earned for ourselves.
We also learned how to spend – judiciously, and with intention.
We learned that the key to wealth was freeing ourselves from debt.
And we learned that we needed to invest early and invest often.
I opened my first Roth IRA at age 18 with $1,000.
Since then, I have worked to save at least 30% of my earnings, always prioritizing investing in my future.
I’ve prioritized keeping debt low, paying off car loans and keeping the same car for years.
I’ve chosen to go without, in order to buy back more of my own time.
Then at 23, I found myself working for a large tech company. Thrilled at first to be a part of something so elite, I quickly found myself spiraling from the toxic culture.
My world came crashing down quickly. I spent most of my days wondering what mattered in life, what mattered to me.
I discovered that what I wanted was freedom.
Freedom to work where I wanted. Freedom to work how I wanted. Freedom from a terrible commute. Freedom from toxic coworkers and elitist cultures.
Now at almost 30, I prioritize my family’s future. I am building the life I want to live with them – free from corporate chains, free from the cage of debt.
It’s my desire to keep learning and sharing what I learn, so that both you and I can build the life we want to live – however that may look.
It doesn’t have to be hard.
Stick around and I’ll help you learn how to save money, earn money, and use money when it matters.
I’ve discovered that those three things come together when you’re discussing freedom.
You can build your dream life by saving money the right way.
You can find freedom by earning money the way you want to.
You can enjoy your freedom in the now by using your money the right way.
I share topics on personal finance, flexible jobs, and travel hacking so you can find your freedom.
