7 Remote jobs you can do while traveling

FacebookTweetPin

One of my long term goals was to find a good job I could do remotely. Online or remote jobs provide immense flexibility to families, letting them live on their own schedules and in some cases, work from wherever they want!

I found my own remote job back in 2020 and having been remote since – I’m not sure I could ever go back to a real office now.

Now that I have my remote job, I’m here to help others find theirs. Each month, I’ll share a few remote job listings or ideas so that maybe you will find your dream flexible job too!

March 2023: 7 remote jobs perfect for travelers!

Can I work remotely anywhere in the world?

Before you go diving into a job search for a remote job, it’s important to know your limitations. While it seems like you can get a remote job and just move abroad, there are some obstacles that can get in the way.

Many countries don’t have Visas for gig workers or digital nomads. See our list here of countries that allow visas for digital nomads.

What kind of jobs can I do from home?

Here are some popular ways to earn money remotely:

  1. Freelance work on Fiverr

Fiverr is the freelance platform that I started out my side gig hustle on back in 2018. The platform was easy to use and I was able to get a good flow of work on here. You can sell just about any service – I personally focused on writing ads for pay-per-click campaigns. The best part was that you didn’t have to chase the work or pitch to potential clients like with UpWork – making it a lot easier to break through the competition barrier.
  2. Write transcriptions with Rev

Rev is an online platform that users can utilize to have audio or video transcribed. While it can be a little difficult to be accepted after you apply, this program can provide you with a decent paycheck if you are consistent and diligent. Transcribers make on average $240-$245 per month, with the top monthly earnings ranging from $1495 to $1570.
  3. Sell printables on Etsy

Selling printables or other digital items on Etsy is one of my new favorite ways to make money in 2023. There is actually a huge market for digital items and printables, and a wide variety of digital products needed. From creating t-shirt mockups, to designing customizable holiday card templates, there is a lot you can do to make this work for you. I personally have created holiday card templates in the past and found it really fun to come up with designs and have people purchase them! I was even able to use Canva to make some designs friendly for those customers who don’t have Adobe design programs.
  4. Become a virtual assistant

Becoming a virtual assistant is probably one of the jobs highest on my list of things to do remotely. There is such a wide variety of clients online looking for virtual assistants every day. The amount of variance in industry and tasks gives you some power in deciding what kind of work you want to do. Being a virtual assistant can mean anything from helping answer emails, to scheduling meetings for clients.

Fiverr and UpWork are two platforms where you can look for Virtual Assistant jobs. You can also check out Flexjobs.com.
  5. Start bookkeeping

Bookkeeping has a little bit of a learning curve but it’s something that many people can study and start trying. A bookkeeper is responsible for managing and organizing finances for an organization. Bookkeeping requires more effort than some of our other remote job options. You may need to create your own busines entity – NerdWallet has a great explainer on how to set up your own bookkeeping business if you want this to be a job that sustains you while traveling.

How to get started as a bookkeeper? You can find plenty of courses online, including at Coursera.
  6. Start a blog

Hello from my own blog! Starting a blog is still surprisingly a profitable way of supporting yourself remotely. With a strong strategy and a wise niche choice, you can easily bring in thousands a month with a blog. The best part – the upfront costs can be very small, depending on your budget. You’ll just need to dedicate yourself to some hard work for a while.

Start a blog quickly and easily with Bluehost (my preferred blog host)!
  7. Consult on social media

It seems almost impossible to escape social media today – it’s so intricately woven with our lives now. So why not capitalize on what social media skills you already have? Small businesses and entrepreneurs are always looking for fresh social media ideas and guidance. You could make an easy income by partnering with small companies (maybe even in your community!) and coming up with social media plans for them. Think about things like: what kind of posts to make, which images to use, how often to post.

Find a cheap course on Udemy or Coursera on social media marketing and you’ll be a social media whiz in no time.
