Rothy’s Reviews – The Flats That Last

FacebookTweetPin

We all have our favorite pair of shoes, am I right? Those shoes we want to wear every day, with every outfit. Those shoes that have seen far better days and that you might need to start thinking about chucking out soon with the trash… I personally love flats. I love how easy it is to style different looks with a single pair. I love how I can dress professionally for work, or casually for a trip to the grocery store. Honestly, I don’t need to sell you on the obvious benefits of these versatile shoes.

What I do need to sell you on is my current favorite brand of flats! This is not an ad but and honestly written recommendation for Rothy’s! (Here is my referral link to save $20 on your own pair.) I own two pairs of Rothy’s and have worn them extensively over the past year. I’ve even converted a few friends over to the brand. Those who know me know I am frugal and I look for quality products to make the most of what I’m spending. The old me would spend $20 on a pair of flats from Target, wear them extensively for two months and then end up with smelly, falling apart shoes that I had to throw away. While Rothy’s aren’t cheap, they’ve lasted me this long and they still look and feel brand new.

Rothy’s Blush Pointed Flat

Here is my honest review of Rothy’s shoes:

My first pair was the pointed flat – a pretty light petal pink. These pointed flats make me feel so put together! I was concerned about the light color when I first purchased because in the past I have struggled with scuffing and stains from regular wear and tear. One of the best things about Rothy’s is that you can easily toss your pair in the laundry – your regular washer works! – and lay flat to dry. I’ve washed my pair many times and they’ve held their shape and don’t feel uncomfortable or different after a wash. You just want to make sure you don’t throw them in the dryer – I have a feeling the recycled plastic material may melt in that heat! My light colored pair still look brand new thanks to the ability to throw them in the wash. This even helps with the smell if you tend to wear your flats non-stop, through rain, snow and heat!

Rothy’s Blush Pointed Toe Flat – My first pair of Rothy’s!

A typical concern with buying new shoes is the breaking in period. I’ve purchased many flats that have rubbed my skin RAW during the first few weeks. So far with Rothy’s, I haven’t noticed that issue. Sure, there is going to be an adjustment period. However, if you have the right fit, I have found that the adjustment period is fast and painless.

On the topic of sizing and the right fit, I have seen a number of others mention the need to size up when purchasing your pair. I purchased my pair before realizing this and happened to buy my normal size. I, personally, struggle with my own foot issues, so I do notice a little bit of tightness with my right foot. However, the left fits perfectly – so in a perfect world where my own personal issues didn’t exist, I most likely would be find wearing my normal size. If you do try your own size or a size up and realize it isn’t the perfect fit, you can always return your pair as long as you haven’t actually worn them around.

My second pair of Rothy’s – the black loafer!

I loved my pair of pointed flats so much that I chose to purchase a second – the loafer! I chose black for this pair to round out my own neutral color selection. I wear these pretty much every day, as they are the perfect casual shoe. They really take the brunt of all my walking – and I’ve done lots of walking! The benefits of this pair are the same as mentioned with the pointed flat. Same with sizing, I didn’t notice too much of an issue with tightness. If you have wider feet or other foot issues, definitely consider sizing up half a size.

Rothy’s Black Loafer

In summary:

  • Rothy’s are made to last a long while – being able to throw them in the washer makes the biggest difference.
  • The adjustment period isn’t terrible – I didn’t end up with an awful blister on my heel like other flats.
  • Size up if you have wide feet or other foot issues that require a little more space for comfort.
